Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
DeputyDJ respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information when you use the DeputyDJ app.
1. What we collect
We only collect information necessary to operate the service. This may include your Spotify account ID and basic profile information, playlist and track metadata required to sequence playlists, app usage information related to sorting and diagnostics, and technical information such as browser type and session data.
DeputyDJ does not collect payment details, contact lists, location data, audio files, or messages/private communications.
2. How we collect information
Information is collected when you sign in using Spotify, select playlists or tracks, run a playlist sort, or use beta/diagnostic features. Spotify data is accessed using Spotify’s API, under the permissions you approve.
3. How we use information
We use your information to authenticate your account, read and sequence selected playlists, generate sorting results and diagnostics, maintain app stability and performance, and improve the product through internal testing and tuning.
DeputyDJ does not sell personal information, share data with advertisers, train machine learning models on your data, or perform background enrichment without user action.
4. Storage and security
Data is stored securely using industry-standard hosting and encryption practices. We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. Some data is cached to improve performance. Cached data is periodically cleared.
5. Sharing of information
We only share information where necessary to operate the service, including Spotify (for authentication and playlist access) and infrastructure providers required to host the app. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
6. International data access
Some infrastructure providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure data is handled consistently with Australian privacy obligations.
7. Access and correction
You may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you by contacting us.
8. Deleting your data
If you stop using DeputyDJ or revoke Spotify access, associated data will no longer be accessible by the app. Cached or retained data is removed in accordance with our retention practices.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
